The objective of this project was to design and create a product concept and go through the process of developing it. After researching how customers were experiencing the brand's current packaging on Instagram and TikTok, I noticed two things:

1.     The box and cloth bag that came with the glasses were not valuable enough to the customer.
2.     The customer was not interacting with the box in anyway other than as an obstruction to the product they ordered.

I wanted to change this by adding value to the sunglasses in a thoughtful and intentional way. To do this, I studied the brands fans and found that a majority of the brands fans are involved in an athletic activities. I wanted to cater to those customers by incorporating a hair band into the packaging in some way. Taking a lot of inspiration from current beauty packaging trends, I knew I wanted to focus on a more sustainable manufacturing process and material. From there, I discovered paper mould packaging. The paper material adds just enough luxury pizazz but not too much so that the customer feels its unusable.

On to the design, I took the average dimensions for the brands current and most sold sunglasses and used that to create my proportions. I wanted a shape that was strong enough to withstand the shipping process, but also small enough to act a s a common sunglasses case. I incorporated a channel for the headband closure to rest in, because I wanted the closure to withstand being tossed in a gym bag or pursed and coming undone.

I kept branding and CMF to its simplest form, because I felt the internal design team should have a clean canvas to work from especially as the brand has a more eclectic and exciting design language.

I rendered these pretty quick in Keyshot and used pretty simple bump and noise textures. However, I do plan on continuing back to noodle with custom bump maps to really hone in on the embossing and paper texture.
